Rattapack, chapter 10

CHAPTER 10

That same afternoon, Professor Rodent was in contact with the Headmistress.

"How's the plan going Irena?"

"Just like we wanted to do, I got the Meracarster."

"And the Gangster rats?"

"Sir William is protecting them, he knows you're after them."

Professor Rodent got out a notepad and a pen to write down some information.

"So what's the model of the Meracarster?"

"Model, I thought they were all the same?"

"No they're not, they may be rare, but they are all different, so what model number are you seeing on it?"

Irena picked up the Meracarster and read out the model number.

"It's C.R.0.3.0.X.P."

"And what's the ammunition input, what shape Meracarsiderum canister?"

"Capsule shape."

Professor Rodent wrote down the information and found out something.

"Capsule eh?  I think Sir William might have one of them stashed away in his warehouse."

"You're right on that one lover, I saw some of it being delivered to Silver couriers this morning in a security van, he must have it there."

"Consider it done, I know exactly what pressure he needs to feel."

The next day, Sir William was in the office with the Mayor of Acme City, Sir Roderick Rockwell.

"You given the responsibility of the Meracarsiderum Sir William, and now you find this so called Meracarster which is designed for use with such a forbidden item." The mayor asked Sir William.

"I found the Meracarster in a city alleyway where the Rattapacks came from...I thought it best to try and keep it hidden from the Professor after they told me everything that I told you before."

"But yet you still don't believe that the Professor is criminal do you?"

Sir William looked concerned.

"Mr. Mayor, from everything that's been going on recently, I'm beginning to think that the Rattapacks are telling me the truth, I have a sneaking suspicion that whoever stole the Meracarster from me is somehow Related to Professor Rodent."

"Did you get her name when you were with the Rattapacks?"

"Yes, I was with the Rattapacks at the school of my sons, and they told me that the suspicious one was the headmistress."

"The Headmistress, would that be Miss Irena Lawrence?"

"Yes that's the one, what's on the records for her?"

The mayor got out the records for Irena Lawrence.

"The guys think she is related to Professor Rodent."

"She is related Sir William...she just happens to be half of a matching pair."

Sir William was shocked at what the Mayor had just said.

"Rodent's wife?!?"

The Mayor passed the records to Sir William so he could have a closer look.
Later that day, the Rattapacks were told of the situation by Sir William.

"The Headmistress is the Professor's wife?" Rattamack asked.

"Apparently so, I found this out yesterday from the Mayor." Sir William answered.

"You know I'm surprised, she seemed so nice to you, someone like the Rattapacks knew she was an enemy." Clarissa added.

"(Sighs) Here we go, back to square one again."

"With respect Clarissa, Sir William has been going about this enemy and friend thing ever since we've known him, we don't know who the enemy is." Rattick said.

"You've always said that Professor Rodent is criminal, and my brother has always said he's not...it's not in the records that the Professor is a criminal, because Sir William got it from the Mayor." Clarissa answered.

"Clarissa's right Rattick, take it from someone who knows, when you declare that someone is an enemy because you hate them, it always ends up messing with you." Rattissa told Rattick.

"I'm not standing for this anymore, I've said what I mean and I mean what I say!"

Rattick walked out of the house unimpressed.

"What is wrong with him?" Chris said to Zack.

"He seems only to believe that the Professor is everything he doesn't seem to be." Zack answered back.

"Don't worry about my brother Boys, he's been like this since I've known him."

"What is it, a case of tourette's syndrome?" Sir William asked.

Rattamack was confused over what Sir William said.

"I don't even know what tourette's is?"

"It's a behaviour disorder Rattamack...I know that Rattick has it." Rattissa answered.

"You never told me that Rattissa."

"Told you what Sir William?"

"That Rattick has tourette's syndrome."

"It's very mild on him, he rarely shows it."

"Even so, I can't understand why he won't take the truth in...he knows better than any of us, that the professor is not what he's saying he is." Chris added.

"It's no excuse Chris." Zack snapped.

"No excuse, what do you mean no excuse?" Chris snaped back.

"Don't fight boys." Sir William butted in.

The phone rang just then, Clarissa went to answer it.

"Hello, Silver residence...Sir William."

Clarissa passed the phone to Sir William.

"Hello...What's going on Linda?...You what, a burglary...I'll be right over."

Sir William put the phone down.

"What's going on sir William?" Rittissa asked.

"I've got to go, My campus has been burgled and I need to be there with the police."

"Why don't we come with you Sir William?"

"I'd rather you didn't Rattissa, this is for me to handle alone.  Clarissa, if you need to contact me, you have my mobile number."

"Understood."

Sir William headed for his van straightaway.  Sir William opened the driver's seat door to realise it was already open.
He was confused as to why after he drove off to get to his campus.
Chris and Zack were worried.

"I wonder what it was that got burgled." Zack said.

"I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's what I think it is." Chris answered.

"What could it be, the Meracarsiderum?" Rattissa asked.

"Rattissa, I hope you're joking." Clarissa answered.
